2011 80’s Pre-Halloween Costume Birthday Party

Sunday, October 16th, 2011

The birthday celebrants Joyc, Ian and JM hosted an 80’s Costume party last night and since we just got back from another shoot (with all my gears in the trunk of my car) we decided to set up an impromptu photo booth!

Here are some of the photos from that fun-filled night!

(The birthday celebrants – Ian, Joyc and JM)

(The Smurfs — we love the effort that was put into this)

(Pebbles, Mario and Morticia)

Aidan Derek Co’s Baptism

Friday, June 4th, 2010

Even though shooting for events wasn’t my cup of tea, I happily agreed to Star when she asked me to take photos from Aidan’s baptism two Sunday’s ago.

Here are some of the photos I took  from that lovely celebration. :)

Shots with the godparents

Aidan with his mom — they are look-alikes :)

With his dad, this time! :)

The proud parents! :)

The beautiful Co family (they look like as if they stepped out of a J. Crew catalog)

Aidan is one lucky baby. Star and Waltz are one of kindest people I know.

I hope to see you again soon.

Much love,

Joyce

Debi + Peng's Pre-Wedding Shoot

Saturday, January 23rd, 2010

“Laughter is the shortest distance between two people.” – Victor Borge

Before we started that afternoon, they both confessed to me that they aren’t that sweet with each other however with the sound of their laughters emanating almost the entire time I was shooting, I didn’t even notice and actually thought otherwise. Debi told me Peng is so funny and that that is one of the things that she likes about him. She laughs heartily and contagiously and he made her do it even more. It was such a joy to be around them.   :D

For this session, they requested for a fun, playful winter shoot  and “just lots of snow”.  So for location, we actually didn’t have to go far from where they live (the entire state of Minnesota is covered with snow ;) ) — we started at Carriage Hills golf course, moved to various spots in Eagan and then ended up at the Community Center which is close to where she works.

Anyway, it is always hard to pick what to post when there are so many to choose from — plus they are so gorgeous — but here are some of my favorite shots. Enjoy!

(The snow was almost knee-deep but they didn’t mind)

(Up close and personal)

(Our version of ‘Twilight’ with her rings  – yes, it’s a snowball  – I added the texture on post-processing)

(Debi doesn’t have a bad angle — just simply stunning)

(Proofs that they are affectionate with one another. ;) )

(Work it!)

(This is my most fave that day. :) )

Debi and Peng, I send my early BEST of LUCK wishes on your church wedding this December. I bet it will be so beautiful and magical.

Keep on smiling and laughing together. Thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of your life.

Much love,
Joyce

P.S. Their album/slideshow will appear on my website shortly. Stay tuned for that as well. :)

{Sneak Peek} Debi + Peng: Eagan Shoot

Saturday, January 16th, 2010

I am extremely grateful for the chance to shoot with this gorgeous, super happy and fun couple earlier today. :)

Here’s a quick post and a sneak peek from that session:

(They did arrive in style)

(They played on the snow and under the sun)

(And we ended with a shot of them having this beautiful light on their beaming faces)

Stay tuned for more…. I need to retire for the night. :D

Happy Saturday evening! :)

Much love,
Joyce

P.S. It is my first winter shoot and a first for 2010. :)

{Portraits} What I Learned About Nathan (Tantan)

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009

I have always been fascinated with babies and little kids. I love seeing their smiles, their interaction with their parents, the people around them and even with their favorite toys. I adore hearing their laughs and coos and is always curious how they have their personality even at an early age. My heart aflutters being surrounded by them — I wish we have our own. :)

Anyway, last Saturday, I was given the chance to shoot Bea and Tom’s little angel (8-month old), Nathan. I got to know something about this little man in a short period of time and instantly I am so in love. :)

Here are some of the things I learned about him:

1. Nathan adores his dada — He smiles and giggles right away around him.

2. Nathan gave me the sweetest pout the first time he saw me… I usually get that first reaction. ;)

But warmed up  to me and my camera so easily. He’s such a natural!

3. He loves his milk. His dada said that he goes bananas whenever he smells it. :)

4. Nathan curls his toes whenever he sees something he likes (like his book)

5. He gazes lovingly at his mama all the time.

6. He is fascinated with green grass… I am, too! :)

7. He loves his toy dog from Up. It’s obvious, isn’t it? :D

8. Last but not the least, he is such a superstar! :D

Masuda family — thank you so much for picking me to do his portraits. I enjoyed every minute of it. I am excited to see you again, soon.

You can find the album/slideshow by visiting my main website and clicking on Nathan’s button. (Bea found it already, though) :)

Happy Tuesday!

Much love,
Joyce

{Portrait} Sneak Peek: The Masuda Family

Saturday, September 19th, 2009

It is already towards the end of summer and fall is already knocking….

The sun is bright but the breeze is calming and soothing. Oh what a perfect day for a family shoot — and that I just did with Bea, Tom and their adorable, handsome son Nathan. :)

Here’s a sneak peek of my favorite shots (so far):
